Early in your CS career, it’s easy to feel like your job is to chase
chase replies, chase updates, chase momentum.

But great CSMs learn something early:
their job isn’t to chase the client —
it’s to set the pace.

They propose timelines.
They confirm next steps.
They make it clear what happens next — even when the client is quiet.

When you set the pace, you replace anxiety with structure.
And structure is what builds trust.

💬 Your turn: What’s one way you help set the pace instead of reacting to it?

🔚 Monday Insight:
“Leadership often begins with setting the tempo.”

I’ll go first 👋

One way I set the pace is by always ending interactions with a clear proposed next step and date — even if it’s just “I’ll check back with you on Thursday.”

It removes guesswork, keeps momentum moving, and shows leadership without pressure.

How do you take control of the rhythm without feeling pushy?
