“You’re explaining too much.”
Here’s something that feels helpful…
but actually weakens communication:
Long Slack messages.
Five-minute explanations.
Repeating the same point three different ways.
Feels thorough.
But most of the time?
It creates confusion.
And over-explaining creates 3 problems:
👉 your message loses clarity
👉 people stop paying attention
👉 and decisions take longer
Because when everything sounds important…
Nothing stands out.
Strong CSMs don’t overload conversations.
They simplify them.
They say:
👉 “Here’s the issue.”
👉 “Here’s the impact.”
👉 “Here’s the next step.”
That’s the shift.
From explaining more…
to communicating clearly.
If your message needs five paragraphs…
it probably needs more clarity.
💬 Your turn: What’s one situation where simplifying your message actually improved the outcome?

“Strong communication isn’t about saying more.
It’s about making the important part impossible to miss.”
