“If you walk into a call without a frame,
someone else will set it for you.”

That’s one of the biggest shifts at the senior level.

Senior CSMs don’t wait for conversations to take shape —
they set the frame before they start.

They clarify the goal.
They define what’s in — and what’s out.
And they name the decision that actually matters.

When the frame is clear, discussions stay focused.
When it isn’t, meetings drift into opinions and noise.

Senior CSMs don’t control conversations by talking more.
They control them by framing better.

💬 Your turn: What’s one way you could set a clearer frame before your next customer call?

🔚 Wednesday Thought:
“Who sets the frame shapes the outcome.”

I’ll start 👋

One thing that’s helped me a lot is sending a one-line frame before the call —
“The goal of this conversation is to decide X.”

It immediately aligns expectations and prevents the meeting from drifting into updates or opinions.

What’s one framing habit you’ve found effective before important conversations?
